Three men sit in a car as other stand around in front of Ryan Motor Garage, a two-story concrete building located at 404-410 S. 11th Street, Lincoln. The building has a center garage door and the display windows on either side have striped canopies. A sign hanging on the car reads: "Franklin National Economy Test, May 1st 1915.
According to Polk's City Directory of Lincoln, 1914, Ryan's Garage was owned by Fred M. Ryan. H.H. Franklin Manufacturing Company sold its first Franklin car in 1902 and produced the first six-cylinder car in America in 1905. Regular transcontinental test runs were made over the years trying to break previous records of time and gas mileage.
