The brick two-story building has display windows on the main floor, windows on the second floor and a street lamp out front. Signs on the display windows say: "Hupmobile"; "Chandler, Light Six $1785, Built by Men Who Know"; and "Detroit Electric." The partial sign "Material Co." is for Nebraska Material Company at 1124 P Street.
According to Polk's City Directory of Lincoln, 1914, Harry E. Mason served as General Manager; Johannes H. Hansen as Sales Manager. The business was a distributor for Hupmobile and Chandler automobiles. The Hupmobile was an automobile built from 1909 through 1940 by the Hupp Motor Company. Chandler Motor Company produced automobiles during the 1910s and 1920s; in 1929, Chandler Motor Company was purchased by Hupp Motor Works for its factory and manufacturing facilities and the brand was discontinued.
