A four-story brick building with a large front porch can be seen from across a grassy lawn in this 5-1/4" x 3-1/4" black and white photograph. The building has a light colored brick foundation and some ornate brick work around some windows. There are dormer windows on the uppermost story, and a cupola extends from the roof. A sidewalk with trees on either side of it leads up to the building.

Historical Notes
South Hall was built in 1890-91. Although intended to be the women's residence hall, it originally housed both male and female English-speaking students, with women on the first and second floors and men on the third and fourth floors. After 1911, it was primarily a women's residence hall until about 1920, when it was converted to a men's residence hall permanently. It was slated for demolition in 1953 when it burned down.
